Book Review: My Nerdy Valentine

Title: My Nerdy Valentine

Author: Vicki Lewis Thompson

Genre: Contemporary romance

I admit it, I picked this up because of the title. My first reaction, before even opening the book, was to laugh out loud and wonder if she was serious. Then I thought, why not? Nice guys don’t always have to finish last and if you’ve ever met my husband then you know I have a soft spot for nerds.

The book delivered on the promise it made in the title. This was a light-hearted, amusing, audacious, and surprisingly romantic story.

Amanda is a psychology student, spending her last semester interning with a sex-crazed sex therapist. She meets William on the front steps of their office buildingĀ  (he’s a financial adviser) when a bag containing x-rated movies and adult toys rips, sending the embarrassing merchandise everywhere.

Things heat up when Amanda begins receiving anonymous valentines, but though she blames him, William did not send them. When the valentines go from cute to disturbing, they have to work together to find out who is stalking her.

This isn’t your typical romance novel, though I would recommend it to romance readers who want something different and daring where the men wear glasses and the sex is always safe. Nice guys can be romantic too.
