Season 2 exploded the playing board with six kings south of the wall, and one to the north. This made things a little confusing, but luckily things start to tighten up in season 3. By the end of this season two players are out of the game and another is really no threat. This made the story easier to follow.

The author of the books has a reputation for killing off characters and he does, although so far not my favorites. I’m still cheering on The Dragon Lady and The Imp in particular. I wrote that at the end of season 2, The Imp had wound his way into my heart as my favorite. Well, in this season The Dragon Lady is back! Her coolness and poise as she casually freed thousands of people from slavery won me over. Plus, she’s got dragons. 🙂

I’m still very fond of The Imp, and hope he will do something cool in the coming season. I felt like he spent most of season 3 feeling sorry for himself.

There were one or two episodes without naked people in them. That was nice. (Honestly, I wish HBO wouldn’t revel so much in the fact that they can do that. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.)

I’m bored by Grayjoy and wish he would die already. I’m not even sure what purpose he serves in the plot.

Overall, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of season 4 on DVD (and may not be willing to wait that long). Next year, I hope to watch season 5 alongside everyone else.

My hopes for season 4 (don’t tell me if I’m wrong): Joffrey dies. Grayjoy dies. The Dragon Lady crosses the sea. The Whitewalkers come south and start causing real problems.

At this point, I recommend this series to fantasy lovers, even if, like me, they couldn’t get into the books.

Season 3 of Game of Thrones brought a few surprises.
