I remembered it when I took an on-line course on writing a mystery novel, at which point <em>Touch of Fate<\/em> was born.<\/p>\n<p><em>Signs<\/em> is a self-contained short story which takes place before the events in <em>Touch of Fate<\/em>. At one point, I considered turning it into a prologue for the novel, but dismissed the idea because I was going through an anti-prologue stage. (I&#8217;m over it now. \ud83d\ude42 ) There is therefore no reason you can&#8217;t read this short story before you read <em>Touch of Fate<\/em> &#8212; it contains no spoilers.
