Drake’s First Ear Infection

This has been a heck of a week. Drake got his first ear infection last week — one of those treasured milestones. It looked just like the mild flu that Austin and I got the week before so unfortunately, we did not realize he had an ear infection until his ear drum ruptured. He didn’t pull at his ears or do any of the stereotypical things they tell you to look for.Oh well, at least he is on antibiotics now and feeling better.

What Happens Next?

A while back a friend asked me if my characters came alive in my head and if I ever thought about them afterwards — what happened to them, for example.

Yes. To all of it. The characters in Touch of Fat did come alive in my head and those that survived have a future in my head as well.

But I’m not going to tell you about it. If the characters came alive in your head than I hope you are enjoying picturing what will happen next.

Meanwhile, you never know…I could even write a sequel and I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Alas, Still Nothing New

I truly wish I had something to report to you, but alas, I have nothing. I am only posting because it has been so long and I want to assure you that nothing is missing. I am still waiting on the final cover art, still waiting to see my book on Fictionwise, and still waiting for a proof of the print version.

No news isn’t good news, but it is not bad news either. The publishing world requires patience. If anyone knows where I can buy some of that on a starving artist’s budget, please let me know.

Writer’s Block

After finishing the Immortality Virus I planned on moving on to a new rough draft — Born of Two Worlds. Instead, I suffered 3 months of pure, agonizing writer’s block. I couldn’t force myself to put a single word on the page.I don’t want to get into a long discussion of writer’s block today. There are many causes and just as many solutions. For me, this time, the solution was to gtive the first two chapters of “Born of Two Worlds” to a friend who gave me a few tips and assured me that this version i far superior to the original.

Now I’ve written 4 chapters in 2 weeks (and those weeks included Christmas and New Year’s). Sometimes, you need a little outside perspective to help you see the way through.

Ahhhhhhh!

Apparently my husband made some upgrades to the web site just before Christmas and I only noticed today that as a result, many of my pages are messed up. There are weird characters all over the place and it’s going to take me hours to clean it all up. I’m taking the site off line for the duration, but also wanted to drop a note of explanation to those of you who visited my web page while it was having issues. With any luck, I can get this fixed in a few days.
